The BGSU Gymnastics team suffered a narrow defeat at their home meet this past Saturday, falling 195.925-195.050 to the Western Michigan Broncos. In spite of the score, the Falcon flyers put up a strong performance, with several notable members putting up fantastic scores. Isabella Rivelli put up a 9.900 on the bars, tying the sixth best score for the event in BGSU history.

Kathryn Weilbacher put up a career best 9.900 on the vault, a score tied for seven best in program history. Weilbacher would, however, narrowly lose the all-around with a final score of 38.275.

Despite the outcome, the team performed admirably, and holds high hopes for the rest of the season.

“I am really proud of the team tonight,” head coach Kerrie Turner said. “We took a huge step forward in every single event. You can see them building their confidence moving into the season. We had many good individual performances, but the most exciting part was seeing the team come together and everybody work their hardest to earn a great score.”

The Falcons return to action on Friday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. with a road conference competition against the Central Michigan Chippewas.
