Senior forward Nathan Burke has signed with the Orlando Solar Bears of the East Coast Hockey League.

The Solar Bears are the ECHL affiliate for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

After transferring to Bowling Green two seasons ago, the 2022 Hobey Baker nominee became an integral part of the Falcon offense.

He led Bowling Green with a team-best 33 goals over both seasons.

Although BGSU’s season did not end the way that he expected, Burke is looking toward the next level.

“If I could come back for another year, I would,” Burke said. “It’s obviously not the way I wanted our season to end…I’m looking forward to having an opportunity in Orlando, similar to when I came here.”

During the 2022-23 season, he tallied up 17 goals, which was second on the team and third in the CCHA.

With a team-best seven power-play goals, he took second in the conference and 14th in the nation.

Burke concludes his college career with 46 goals and 34 assists in 157 games.

Head Coach Ty Eigner says that he is proud of what Burke has been able to accomplish with the Falcons both on and off the ice.

“Nathan came here and took advantage of that opportunity on the ice with his play and took advantage of the academic opportunity. He’s going to leave here with a pro contract and an MBA, so we’re really proud of him for that,” Eigner said.

Burke is the second Falcon in two years to sign an ECHL contract following forward Sam Craggs, who signed with the Toledo Walleye last season.
