The Bowling Green women’s basketball team won 87-80 against the Liberty Flames on Thursday.

Boosted by a dominant first quarter, the Falcons went on two 10+ point runs to a 30-10 lead.

The Flames won every quarter after that, but the early deficit proved to be too steep.

Bowling Green used quick hands to keep the Flames, forcing 25 turnovers in the game.

Senior Elissa Brett had the best night of her career, finishing with 27 points and six rebounds.

Sophomore Jocelyn Tate was not far behind with 15 points and five steals.

Adding on to the Falcons’ offensive night were senior Allison Day (13 points), junior Lexi Fleming (12 points), and junior Nyla Hampton (8/8 FTs).

For Liberty, senior Mya Berkman notched a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Fellow senior Dee Brown finished with five assists.

With the loss, Liberty’s season will end.

The Flames finished second in the Atlantic Sun conference behind eventual conference tournament winner Florida Gulf Coast.

For the Falcons, they will make the trip to Wisconsin to face 28-5 Green Bay.

Tip-off will be at 8 p.m. on March 20.
