The Native American series, In the Round, was recognized with four Addy Awards in design work.

In The Round won Best in Show, a Mosaic Award, a Gold Addy and a Silver Addy from the American Advertising Federation of Toledo, according to BGSU’s press release.

The In The Round event helped move BGSU’s land acknowledgment statement to recognize Indigenous communities’ rights to territories seized by colonial powers.

This semester’s In The Round event will be Friday, March 24, at 5:30 p.m. in 101 Olscamp and features both author and illustrator, Kevin Noble Maillard and Juana Martinez-Neal.

A second event, which includes book signings, will be at the Wood County District Library at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 25.

“We are grateful to the fantastic list of Native American creatives who accepted the invitation to come to BGSU and support this inaugural series,” said In The Round co-creator Jenn Stucker, associate professor and division chair of graphic design at BGSU.

Addy Awards were also given for the work of two BGSU affiliated graphic designers. Sophia Llamas, who graduated last spring, received a Gold Addy award and Kiley Sabo, a graphic design senior, won a Bronze Addy award.
