October 5, 2006
Full Steam Ahead: Center and leading scorer Ian Gagnon prepares to go into a tackle by a pair of CMU players. The BGSU rugby team swept last weekend’s matches. BG shut out Central Michigan 56 – 0 and 55 – 0 to remain undefeated in MAC play. The Falcon rookies defeated a team of Ohio State ex-pats called the High Street Tommies by a score of 90 – 10. BG captain and Gagnon kept his team lead in scoring by adding three tries against CMU. Rookie prop Duane Miller put over two in against the Tommies and rookie center Joe Newton scored a hat trick, also against the Tommies. The Falcons are now 14 – 0 and will travel to the University of Illinois for the first of a series of regional matches leading up to the National Collegiate Rugby Championship.
