As a faithful reader of The BG News, I was shocked and somewhat appalled at the column I read Friday morning about Third Eye Blind [“A ‘semi-charmed’ fan,” Sept. 28]. I am inquiring as to why a guest columnist was selected to write an article about a band they aren’t crazy about to begin with.
Why would someone write about what they think to be the band’s lack of success? Or how they can’t believe the band churned out hit after hit?
I don’t think everyone should share the same passion as I do about music, let alone Third Eye Blind, but I do think the band deserves more respect than that. They came here to play a show, and the article preceding their arrival was ridiculous, in my opinion.
When I picked up the paper, I expected to hear about someone’s anticipation and excitement to go to the concert, not to find that if they feel they have prepared enough for their exams, then maybe they will make it out.
What would happen if lead singer Stephen Jenkins were to find a newspaper lying around and read the heinous article?
I am disappointed with your selection in writer choice and column, and I hope to see better next week.
