Woman found dead last week was University alumna, grad student
June 13, 2007
The woman found dead in her apartment last week was an alumna of the University and had recently been enrolled in classes here.
Genora Rutherford, 38, graduated in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in English, before returning to earn a bachelor’s degree in education in 1995, according to Teri Sharp, media relations director.
As recently as Fall 2006, Rutherford was enrolled in graduate level education courses at the University, Sharp added.
Rutherford was found dead in her apartment on the 100 block of Court Street on June 4 by a court bailiff who had come to serve her with an eviction notice.
BGPD Sgt. Paul Tyson, who was at the scene, estimated Rutherford had been dead for 10 to 15 days before she was discovered.
Rutherford’s body was turned over to the Wood County Coroner, who has yet to release any findings.
