  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]

Notebook: Clawson hits the slopes

BOISE – With all the planned events leading up to the Humanitarian Bowl BG coach Dave Clawson’s favorite non-football memory so far had nothing to do with the bowl’s organizers.

‘My wife took our kids skiing yesterday and I got to see my kids go down a hill, so that was really neat,’ Clawson said.

Clawson also took some runs down the slopes, staying on the bunny hill for all four trips down the mountain.

‘I was going down with the two and the three-year-olds,’ Clawson said.

While Clawson spent some of his free time Monday on the slopes, some of his players met with family while a group of around 15 players went to go see the movie ‘Sherlock Holmes’ according to linebacker Cody Basler’s Monday evening video blog.

All Set

It’s been 33 days since BG’s regular season ending win over Toledo.

All that time off has allowed the Falcons to get in more then enough preparation for their bowl game with Idaho, concluding with Tuesday’s final walk through.

‘We had a good walkthrough, our guys had great focus. When you have 33 days between games you’re a little bit concerned about the rust,’ Clawson said. ‘They were very into it and very focused and I think we’ve been here just the right amount of time.’

Tuesday’s practice was BG’s third since arriving Sunday and was held inside at Boise’s Caven Williams Indoor Facility.

The Falcons first two practices were held outside on Bronco Stadium’s blue turf, while the indoor facility has green turf.

Last time BG played in a bowl, a 63-7 loss to Tulsa at that 2007 GMAC Bowl, they never practiced on the game field until their game day preparations.

The Kick is Good

Throughout the regulars season one of the weekly questions for coach Clawson was who would handle the various kicking duties.

In the bowl game Jerry Phillips will handle kick-off duties as he has all season, while Matt Norsic will continue to kick for field goals and extra points after taking over the job late in the season.

Nick Iovinelli will still be punter for BG.

Falcons Favored

The most recent betting line on the Humanitarian Bowl has the Falcons favored by 1 point.

The under/over for the game is currently set at 68.’
