As the holiday season nears, I am beginning to see tons of sparkle (my absolute favorite color). You can find sparkle on shirts, cardigans, dresses, skirts and shoes.
Since Christmas is coming, I have been on the lookout for a great outfit or two to wear to holiday parties. In my search I have been drawn to sparkles; they give every outfit a little shine.
While out shopping at Forever 21, I saw many items with sparkles, and whether it is sequins or glitter, sparkles are everywhere. I found a brown and gold full-sequin dress with a three-quarter sleeve for $40. There was also a great miniskirt with scattered black and gold sequins for around $25.
Not only did I find dresses and skirts with sparkles, but I also found blazers that were fully covered in sequins. As we all know, I love blazers, so I of course am going to scoop one up. But you can find sparkly blazers almost anywhere; I have seen some at JCPenny, Dillards, TJ Maxx and Sears.
You all are probably wondering how you can wear sparkles or glitter if only one item has glitter. If you are wearing a sequin skirt I would recommend pairing it with either a plain cardigan or blazer with a tank underneath; don’t forget to pair it with the perfect shoes. I would say that either a plain pair of heels or boots would complete the look.
When wearing a sequin dress I would recommend pairing it with a great pair of heels. But if you’re looking for a more casual look, I would go with an embellished cardigan or sweater and a pair of medium to dark wash jeans.
When wearing sequins or glitter your outfit already has plenty of pizazz; so pair your outfits with minimal jewelry and accessories. I wouldn’t add more sparkle; just keep it to plain metals and fabrics for your jewelry and handbags.
Wearing sparkles and glitter is not just for the holiday season – you can wear sparkles at pretty much any time if the year. Just make sure that item of clothing is for the right occasion and season.
