  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]

Rain gear for fashionistas

Living in Northwest Ohio all my life has taught me a thing or two when it comes to the weather. All year long you are guaranteed some sort of weather, whether it is sun, rain, snow, sleet – anything. I am sure that you all have noticed by now that it rains quite a bit here.

So this week let’s talk about the fabulous raingear that’s out there to keep you dry.

We all know of the classic rain boot, they come in all patterns and colors to treat everyone’s unique style. But, this style season I am seeing more and more of them than I ever have before. I just bought my first pair (in leopard print, another hot trend) at TJ Maxx a few weeks ago for only $20 and I absolutely love them. I’ve also seen them at Old Navy, Dillard’s, Meijer, Wal-Mart and almost everywhere online.

Walking around this flat campus we have all come to know that the wind gusts are really no help when it comes to trying to stay dry. Almost all of us have either seen someone’s umbrella turn inside out or you’ve had it happen to you.

Since one of my umbrellas has already broken I decide to look around and see what great styles they have out there. While on my quest I found clear dome umbrellas, they are these great umbrellas that come down over your face to keep you extra dry and not let the wind take you away. I’ve been able to find them at Target, Wal-Mart and online for around $10 – $20.

Another great way to stay dry is with a rain coat, but instead of the classic coat I suggest trying a trench coat. They are so chic and are guaranteed to keep you dry.

I love to wear my red trench; it gives my outfits the right amount of pop. I also have a tan trench just in case I decide I want a more classic look. This fall season trench coats are a hot trend, especially belted one’s, you can find them almost anywhere for any price whether you want high end or a bargain. I have seen some at Forever 21, Old Navy, TJ Maxx, Dillard’s and many other stores.

As the rain keeps coming and the wind keeps blowing I hope everyone can stay dry. Walking around campus in these hot trends is sure to get you noticed (maybe even get you a compliment or two).
