Undergraduate Student Government and the University of Toledo’s student government made a bet on the Homecoming game at the USG meeting Monday night; the student government president, vice president and speaker of the losing school will have to wear the winning school’s spirit-wear for a day.
The bet was drawn up as a resolution and voted on and signed by both student governments. The resolution detailed the history of the rivalry between BG and UT, which dates back to 1919.
“Be creative, and I will be there cheering you on,” said University President Mary Ellen Mazey, when she spoke at the meeting.
Mazey also encouraged the students to create traditions.
University acapella group Ten40 performed to help bolster school spirit for the Homecoming game. The group is made up of male University students, and they performed each school’s alma mater as well as the University fight song.
USG members talked with UT student government members after the meeting, and the schools expressed how much they wanted the tradition of attending the other school’s meeting before a big game to continue in years to come.
