Club hockey team wins TSCHL Tourney
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. — The Bowling Green men’s club hockey team won the Tri-State Collegiate Hockey League tournament on Saturday at the Pan American Ice Arena.
No. 2 Bowling Green defeated no. 3 Toledo in the opening round, 10-1 to advance to the championship game against no. 1 Ohio State.
In the championship game, BG defeated Ohio State, 4-3 on a Doug DeSilvio goal with five seconds remaining in the game. DeSilvio, a forward, was named to the all-tournament team. Two Bowling Green defensemen also garnered all-tournament honors. Captain Jason Hicar and Nick Whittaker were named to the defensive all-tournament squad.
Two softball players named to team
LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Two Bowling Green State University softball players were named to the all-tournament squad from the New Mexico State Tournament.
Gina Rango and Libby Voshell made the team after the Falcons finished 2-3 in the weekend tournament.
Rango plays third base for the Falcons and Voshell plays shortstop.
Rango homered in her collegiate debut and added another homer and double in the other games. She hit a team-best .400 in the tournament and also led the team with six hits and six RBI.
Voshell had a homer and scored three runs. She added four RBI for the Falcons.
