  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]

Spring Housing Guide

Getting involved can be fun via service organizations

Getting the chance to own your own house is a dream for many, but being one of the people that can make that dream a reality is a truly rewarding experience. The BGSU Chapter of Habitat for Humanity can help you in accomplishing the experience of helping a family own their first house. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing organization that welcomes all people to come and help build simple, decent, affordable houses for people in need of adequate shelter. Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity has been building houses all across the nation and in other countries all around the world.

The BGSU Chapter of Habitat for Humanity takes part in building houses around the Findlay and Toledo areas. Other opportunities are available through the organization such as an alternate Spring Break trip to an exciting location. In previous years, the spring break trip has been in Florida and next year the location will be even better.

Another opportunity within the organization is to participate in Box City. Box City is an event held each year where students build their own boxes into houses and sleep outside for a night. Next year will be the 7th annual Box City. The purpose of Box City is to raise awareness for homelessness and poverty and all proceeds go to help build houses for the less fortunate. If The BGSU Chapter of Habitat for Humanity sounds great to you, contact the Advisor, Wilfred Roudebush at [email protected].
