After a third place finish at the Big Red Classic in Ocala, Fla., the BG men’s golf team will head down to Florida again to compete in the El Diablo Intercollegiate tournament.
The tournament will feature many Mid-American Conference teams and teams from the Falcons’ district. The site will be Citrus Springs, Fla. and Marshall is playing host.
“The field consists of more schools from our district and conference this weekend,” head coach Garry Winger said. “So we’ll use this weekend to judge where we are at here heading into April.”
The team is lead by Adam Balls right now, who is coming off a fourth place overall finish. His rounds of 75, 71 and 73 put him only six shots behind the first place finisher.
Other big performers have been Heath Ziglar and Craig Pickerel. Ziglar finished tied for seventh and Pickerel finished tied for 11th this past weekend.
Ziglar was also the top finisher for the Falcons in the season-opening tournament two weeks ago. He shot a 222 total for the 54-hole Charleston Southern Kick-Off Classic tournament where he finished third overall.
The 54- hole El Diablo Intercollegiate tournament will be held tomorrow and Sunday.
