BGSU hockey has announced their first signing of this season, defenseman Brayden Crampton out of the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey League.
A native of Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada, Crampton has played four seasons with Spokane in Washington and was named an assistant captain in 2024-25. In his 30 games played in his final season in the Western Hockey League (WHL), he won the November Ironworker of the Month award while being the second-highest-scoring defenseman, Spokane’s 15th-highest-scoring blueliner ever.
The six-foot right hand-shooter has played 210 games as a Chief scoring 16 goals and 92 assists with around 30 games left to play this season. He is head coach Dennis Williams’ first signing from the WHL, a league in which Williams previously coached
Crampton’s college eligibility has been retained even though he has played in a Canadian Hockey League due to the NCAA’s new allowance for CHL players to play in college hockey given they meet a few stipulations.
