BGSU Hockey has signed a new skater, left-handed defenseman Ivan Korodiuk, from the Madison Capitols in the USHL.
Korodiuk, a native of Kyiv, Ukraine, has played 19 games with the Capitols in 2024, scoring a goal and seven assists with a +12 rating. Before the USHL stop, he skated two seasons of 107 combined games with the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks in the NAHL, scoring four goals and 30 assists.
The southpaw is only 20 years old, turning 21 on Jan. 5, 2025. The blueliner will officially be on the roster after the turn of the new year and, at 6-foot-4 inches, will be tied for the second-tallest defenseman on Bowling Green.
He will make the sixth different country from which a Falcon will hail, not counting Canada or the United States. As of the signing, Bowling Green will have a player from Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, and Slovakia.
Bowling Green’s next game will take place on Sunday, Dec. 29, in the Slater Family Ice Arena, while the first game Korodiuk can be expected to be on the roster will be the away series against Lake Superior on the weekend of Jan. 3 and 4.
