Two new “fast-casual” restaurants are coming to Bowling Green this summer.
Both Jersey Mike’s and Wingstop are currently being constructed on 1502 E Wooster St. and will replace where Celltronix used to be.
Jersey Mike’s is an American submarine sandwich chain with 3,054 in the nation and 297 locations on the way. Wingstop is an American chain known for their cooked to order sauced and tossed wings with up to 14 different wing flavors.
Raymond Fernandez, the VP of Operations of the Jersey Mike’s franchise commented on the state of the location.
“Our Bowling Green location will open towards the end of June. We chose this location as it has a strong demographic for a Jersey Mike’s and is also near the college,” Fernandez said.
As construction continues, students can hope to enjoy both establishments at the end of summer break. For those who reside in Bowling Green, you may get first dibs.
“They hope to have the restaurant open in July, being ready to go when students move back in August,” the city said.
Amidst construction, students shared their excitement for the two chains coming to Bowling Green.
Freshman Molly Ward was moved by the news, as she has never been to Wingstop before.
“I’ve never been to Wingstop, but I’ve heard it was good. I definitely am more excited for that,” Ward said.
The location could not be more convenient, as the closest Wingstop is currently a half hour away. Student Cori Grimes expressed his excitement for the location being right around the corner.
“I can mess with Wingstop, that’s gonna be walking distance, have a big back by the end of the semester.” Grimes said.
For those who may be indifferent or not eat out as much, there is still much to enjoy about these chains making their way to the city.
“I don’t go out much for food but they’re both good so it’s good for the community,” freshman Zachary Wise said.
Junior Maddie Mills said these new additions are perfect, as Bowling Green would benefit from more chicken restaurants.
“I am so excited for the new Wingstop and Jersey Mikes that’s opening in BG. This town needs to have more chicken and sandwich places as soon as possible,” Mills said.
The City of Bowling Green shared in the enthusiasm of the new construction in the previously unused space.
“The city is pleased to see the improvement of this corner and the addition of new businesses,” they said.
