The Saskatchewan Roughriders drafted BGSU defensive lineman Ali Saad in the first round of the 2025 Canadian Football League Draft with the fourth overall pick on Tuesday night.
A homecoming for Saad, who was born in Windsor, Ontario, he becomes the first Bowling Green player to be drafted into the CFL since Ryan Hunter went ninth overall in 2018.
Saad joined Bowling Green in 2021 after spending the 2020 season with the University of Minnesota.
In his career, he recorded 78 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, six sacks, blocked a kick and forced four fumbles.
In 2024, he broke out onto the scene, accumulating 41 tackles, 4.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, and two fumbles forced.
