Fremont Federal Credit Union will be the presenting sponsor of the Battle of I-75 rivalry matchup between Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo for rivalry games over the next three years, the organization announced on Wednesday.
“We are excited to partner with Fremont Federal Credit Union and welcome them as the new presenting sponsor of the I-75 Rivalry Series. This partnership reflects the deep ties between our universities and the communities we serve. The I-75 Rivalry between Bowling Green State University and The University of Toledo is built on a long-standing tradition of sportsmanship, spirited competition, and passionate support from fans across Northwest Ohio,” BGSU Vice President for Athletics Strategy and Director of Athletics Derek van der Merwe said. “With Fremont Federal Credit Union’s support, we look forward to strengthening the community connections that make this rivalry so special and enhance the experiences that unite us both on and off the field.”
While Fremont Federal Credit Union will sponsor all matchups in every sport between the rivals, it will be primarily focused on football.
“Rivalries are at the heart of what makes college sports special, and the intense competition between The University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University is no exception. The I-75 Rivalry Series ignites passion in our student-athletes, coaches, alumni, and fans across Northwest Ohio and beyond,” Toledo Director of Athletics Bryan Blair said. “We’re thrilled that Fremont Federal Credit Union – a leader in our local business community – will be the presenting sponsor of this iconic series.”
Fremont Federal Credit Union recently opened a new branch in Bowling Green, located on 1200 N. Main Street. The new location marks the branch’s first addition since 2018, including their seventh overall location and first in Wood County.
“It was an easy choice to open a new branch location in Bowling Green. This is a vibrant, growing community, made up of families, professionals, retirees, and students. We’re happy to be here and want to help our members grow and succeed,” Fremont Federal Credit Union CEO Nick Cray said.
The organization, which has been around since 1946, aims to promote healthy financial living throughout northwest Ohio and is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of volunteer members elected to three-year terms at annual meetings attended by members in good standing.
The member-owned credit union recently voted to give $500,000 back to its members in the form of a special dividend, which will be distributed by June 30.
“As Fremont Federal Credit Union grows, one thing remains the same: a commitment to the people and communities it serves. We’re proud to call Bowling Green home and look forward to helping our members – new and longtime – build brighter financial futures,” Cray said.
The new branch in Bowling Green will create five full-time jobs after multiple local contractors transformed the former Premier Bank building into the new financial hub.
To celebrate the new location, Fremont Federal Credit Union is offering a 0% credit card balance transfer special promotion to new and existing members.
“We believe in offering our members the best advice, products and services to promote healthy financial living. Special promotions like the one we’re running now supports this mission,” Fremont Federal Credit Union Bowling Green branch manager Bassam El Fadl said.
Membership for the credit union is available to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Sandusky, Ottawa, Seneca, Wood, Hancock, Lucas and Fulton counties.
