BGSU baseball sophomore catcher Garrett Wright has reportedly transferred to Tennessee, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Wright entered the portal Thursday with a do-not-contact tag.
Wright is the reigning Mid-American Conference (MAC) Defensive Player of the Year and has earned First Team All-MAC honors in back-to-back seasons. He set the program record for single-season doubles (20), single-season hit-by-pitches (28) and career hit-by-pitches (49) during the 2025 season.
The Massillon, Ohio, native led the MAC with a .406 batting average and paced the conference and all of the nation’s catchers with a .513 on-base percentage (OBP).
Wright also played five different positions in the field for Bowling Green—catcher, third base, left field, center field and right field—maintaining a .991 fielding percentage, including a perfect ledger behind the plate.
Wright tallied a .396 batting average, a .509 OBP, a .631 slugging percentage, 14 home runs, 28 doubles, four triples, 76 runs batted in (RBI), 37 walks and just 34 strikeouts in two seasons with the Orange and Brown.
