The college baseball season is officially over, with LSU defeating Coastal Carolina in the College Baseball World Series.
With the season coming to an end, we are fully into the offseason, which means one thing: transfer portal drama.
So far, nearly 50 Mid-American Conference (MAC) players have entered the portal.
Here’s a detailed look at how all 11 MAC teams are faring with the transfer portal:
Akron
Transferred (1): OF Evan Bottone (Marshall)
Currently in Portal (5): INF Charlie Schebler, RHP David Moore, RHP Jack Kelley, RHP Jackson Frasure, RHP Ty Pangborn
Additions (0)
The Zips have suffered numerous hard blows with the portal after their 13th straight season with a losing record.
Bottone, who ranked second on the team with a .315 batting average and 14 stolen bases, transferred to Marshall, marking a major loss for Akon.
Kelley, who is currently in the transfer portal, was also a major piece for the Zips during the 2025 season. He tallied a 4-2 record, a 5.17 ERA, 52 strikeouts and a .237 opponent batting average in 55.2 innings, 12 appearances and 11 starts.
Ball State
Transferred (1): INF Blake Bevis (Mississippi State)
Currently in Portal (3): LHP Brady Fitzpatrick, RHP Lucas Letsinger, RHP Evan Shapiro
Additions (0)
After making a second straight MAC Tournament championship game, the Cardinals have also felt the effects of the transfer portal.
The key loss is Bevis, who earned All-MAC First Team honors this season after hitting .301 with 13 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs and 52 RBIs.
However, Ball State’s other three portal entries—Fitzpatrick, Letsinger and Shapiro—played just a combined 15 games with four starts.
Bowling Green
Transferred (2): C/OF Garrett Wright (Tennessee), RHP/OF DJ Newman (Tennessee)
Currently in Portal (1): RHP Owen Poole
Additions (1): OF Pauly Mancino (Ohio)
Bowling Green has only lost two players to the transfer portal, but it has a case as the hardest-hit team, losing two superstars in Wright and Newman, both of whom transferred to Tennessee.
Wright is one of the best catchers in the country. He led the MAC with a .406 batting average and paced all catchers in the country with a .513 OBP. He won MAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2025 and earned back-to-back All-MAC First Team honors.
Meanwhile, Newman was one of the best players in the MAC, earning preseason First Team All-American and MAC Player of the Year nods.
However, Bowling Green is one of just two MAC teams who have added a transfer, recruiting Mancino, who hit over .300 this past season, from Athens.
Central Michigan
Transferred (1): RHP AJ Kostic (Lamar)
Currently in Portal (4): OF Mikey Murphy, INF Aaron Piasecki, LHP Jackson Smith, RHP Trevor Busyn
Addition (0)
Central Michigan is another team that has suffered from the transfer portal. CMU’s top two hitters—Murphy and Piasecki—have both entered the portal.
Piasecki led the Chippewas with a .318 batting average while ranking second with 15 doubles and 14 stolen bases and third with 33 RBIs. Meanwhile, Murphy led the team with a .979 OPS, ranking second with a .311 batting average, second with 36 RBIs and third with 13 stolen bases.
Eastern Michigan
Transferred (0)
Currently in Portal (5): C Brendan Kleiman, OF Michael Ciavolella, INF Keegan Martin, INF Tyler Yudess, RHP Tyler Kapa
Additions (0)
Although EMU has five transfer portal entries, they are one of just three teams that have not lost a player to the portal.
However, one of their best pitchers from the past season, Kapa, entered the portal. He led the MAC with 90 strikeouts and 26 strikeouts looking in 66 innings.
Out of the four position players to enter the portal, Kleiman was the only one to play for the Eagles in 2025.
Kent State
Transferred (1): RHP Jacob Bean (Louisville)
Currently in Portal (1): LHP Vince Waterman
Additions (0)
Although Kent State has not had much news with the transfer portal, they did lose a key arm in Bean.
Bean earned All-MAC First Team honors, finishing the year with a 6-2 record, a 4.20 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 75 innings pitched.
The Golden Flashes’ other portal entry, Waterman, only appeared in one game in 2025.
Miami (OH)
Transferred (2): RHP Cooper Katskee (Nebraska), RHP Charlie Dieruf (Cincinnati)
Currently in Portal (2): LHP Kale Hopke, RHP Keegan Nickoson
Additions (0)
After winning the MAC Tournament Championship, the RedHawks have been hurt by the transfer portal.
The major loss is Katskee, who won MAC Pitcher of the Year and led the MAC with 11 wins while finishing the season with a 3.08 ERA.
Miami also lost Dieruf, who was a solid piece of their bullpen, finishing this past season with a 5.92 ERA and 17 strikeouts to only four walks in 24.1 innings pitched across 16 relief appearances.
The other two portal entries, Hopke and Nickoson, did not pitch in any games during the 2025 campaign.
Northern Illinois
Transferred (0)
Currently in Portal (1): C Kyle Hartmann
Additions (1): OF Caden Robertson (Central Oklahoma)
NIU is one of the few MAC teams who have fared well in the transfer portal.
Their only loss, Hartmann, hit just .154 at the plate in 20 games and 10 starts.
Meanwhile, the Huskies are one of just two MAC teams who have added a player in the portal. Their lone addition, Hartmann, hit .358 with 20 doubles, four triples, 23 home runs and 76 RBIs in 52 games at Central Oklahoma.
Ohio
Transferred (6): C Trae Cassidy (Memphis), INF Matt Ineich (West Virginia), INF JR Nelson (Illinois), OF Ben Slanker (Louisville), OF Pauly Mancino (Bowling Green), RHP Zach Weber (Ohio State)
Currently in Portal (8): C Jackson Cauthron, C/1B Brady LaViolette, OF/INF Caleb Karll, LHP Hunter Winston, RHP Dylan Eggl, RHP Blake Gaskey, RHP Jack Geiser, RHP Jimmy Cerha
Additions (0)
Ohio has been absolutely ravaged by the transfer portal after parting ways with former head coach Craig Moore.
OU’s five position players they have lost in the portal—Cassidy, Ineich, Nelson, Slanker and Mancino—combined for 45 doubles, 31 home runs and 148 RBIs while averaging a .306 batting average.
Additionally, another top hitter, Cauthron, and top starter, Gaskey, are also in the portal, along with six other Bobcats.
Toledo
Transferred (1): RHP Jackson Bergman (Indiana)
Currently in Portal (2): C/1B Josh Cote, RHP Bobby Lane
Additions (0)
Toledo has been relatively quiet in terms of the transfer portal.
The obvious loss is the departure of their ace, Bergman. The 6-foot-6 right-hander finished the season with a 3-3 record and a 5.65 ERA across 65.1 innings pitched before transferring to Indiana.
Western Michigan

Currently in Portal (0)

Western Michigan has been dead silent since the end of the season. They are the only team in the MAC who have not had a transfer portal entry.
