BGSU volleyball (10-6, 4-0) took down the Central Michigan Chippewas (3-13, 0-4) in three straight sets to earn their fourth straight MAC win.
This win marks the fourth straight Mid-American Conference win for the Falcons and gives Bowling Green its first win over the Chippewas since 2022
Central Michigan started the match off with two quick points, but Kendall Williams was able to get the Falcons’ first offensive points and tie up the match at two apiece.
After that, neither team was able to get more than a one-point lead as they traded points, until the Chippewas rattled off three straight points to lead 12-9.
The Falcons answered the three-point run with one of their own, sparked by a Jessica Andrews kill.
The first set would come to an end with kills from Amanda Otten, and the game-winning kill came from Helen Wilford to take set one 25-22.
Central Michigan started the second set with three straight points, all from Grace Thomas with one solo block, one kill, and one block assist.
After a kill from Edyta Waclawczyk, Bowling Green was able to get back in the game off some errors from the Chippewas, making it a 4-4 game.
Both teams would then go back to trying to take the lead and giving it right back to the other team.
BGSU would retake the lead with an Anastasija Bozic ace, and that would put the Falcons up 18-17.
With the score tied 23-23, the Falcons would be gifted a point from an attack error on CMU and then finish the second set off with an Andrews kill.
Set number three started with the orange and brown being gifted three points by Central Michigan through attack errors.
Avery Hobson was the first Falcon to get in the offensive box score in the third set with a kill.
With back-to-back service aces from Hobson, the Falcons took an 11-9 lead.
Another service ace, this time from Otten, would give the Falcons the largest lead of the third set with a three-point advantage, at 19-16.
CMU would fight back into the match and take the lead 23-22 off a service ace from Thomas.
The Falcons would then rattle off the straight points to take the third set over Central Michigan 25-22 and win the match.
BGSU was on the beneficial end of 24 attacking errors and nine service errors by Central Michigan through the three sets.
Bowling Green is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 7, as they travel to Toledo to take on the Rockets with the first serve set for 6:00 p.m.
