BGSU football junior middle linebacker Gideon Lampron earned Mid-American Conference (MAC) Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Toledo on Saturday, the conference announced on Monday morning.
The recognition is Lampron’s first honor since transferring to BG from Dayton.
The Lagrange, Ohio, native tallied 13 total tackles, including 10 solo, and 3.5 tackles for loss, tying his career-high.
“He was an FCS All-American. Again, not surprised at the work that he’s done,” Mike and Jan Wilcox Head Football Coach Eddie George said postgame. “Gideon showed up and played really well for us. He’s the captain of our defense.”
Lampron’s solo stops and tackles for loss are tied for second among all FBS players over the weekend.
Lampron and the Falcons held the Rockets to only 121 total yards in the second half after they scored 21 points in the first 30 minutes at Doyt L. Perry Stadium.
Next, Lampron and the Falcons stay at the Doyt to battle Central Michigan on Saturday at noon.
