A student was found unresponsive near Carr Avenue and South Summit Street at 7:30 P.M. Sunday and was later declared dead.
Mark Borsz, 22, a senior from Columbia Station, Ohio, was reportedly going out for a run when he later collapsed, said Deputy Chief Tony Hetrick of The Bowling Green Police Division.
Residents of the area discovered Borsz lying on the sidewalk, and performed CPR on him until the police arrived, Hetrick said.
Borsz was transported to the Wood County Hospital where he was declared dead, he said.
The 3D studies major was previously a resident advisor in Centennial and Harshman Residence Halls.
“There are no signs of trauma or foul play,” Hetrick said, regarding the case, which is currently being investigated by the Bowling Green Police Division and the Wood County Coroner’s Office.
Hetrick was unable to provide any more information as the investigation is still ongoing.
“We are grieved to learn of the death of one of our students,” said President Mary Ellen Mazey in an email to students. “The loss of a young life is always deeply sorrowful.”
The University will host a candlelight vigil in the School of Art courtyard at 8:30 p.m. tonight, according to Mazey’s email. Funeral arrangements will be posted in Campus Update when finalized.
