The city is moving forward with the demolition of Ridge School located on Ridge Street.
Municipal Administrator John Fawcett said the city acquired the property last week and is in the process of removing electric, water, sewer and gas meters for demolition.
The next step is bringing demolition experts and an asbestos specialist to inspect the building for a demolition proposal, he said.
The city intends to turn the Ridge School into a community park, as there is no other park in the First Ward.
