BGSU volleyball falls to Northern Illinois in MAC Championship Tournament

The BG volleyball team was eliminated from the Mid-American Conference tournament by the Northern Illinois University Huskies on Friday.

The Huskies defeated the Falcons 3-1 in a rematch of the 2012 championship game, in which the Falcons won. However, the Huskies were victorious this time around.

BG won the first set 25-15 but fell in the next three 25-22, 25-14 and 25-19.

Lindsey Butterfield and Paige Penrod led the team in kills with 15 and 12, respectively. Butterfield had team highs of 40 total attacks and 18 digs in Friday’s loss.

The Falcons had defeated Northern Illinois 3-0 at the Stroh Center on Sept. 28.

After defeating BG, the Huskies took on the top-seeded Ohio University Bobcats in the championship game, but lost 3-0.

The Falcons will face the University of Dayton Flyers in their final match of the 2013 season on Nov. 29
