While the past couple of months have been nice and filled with reading, writing and some work, it’s good to be back at the University.
Over the summer, I was glad to be home. I got to spend the last month with my now deceased dog after being afraid he would go when I was at school. I was also able to spend time with my family and other dogs, which was nice.
But, there was a hole in my heart.
I missed my school. I missed the one night a week I worked in the newsroom. I missed the line growing at Panda Express on the weekends right before close. I missed everything. My lifestyle at home and my lifestyle at school are two completely different animals as I cope to a more laid back style. Now, I’m back to caffeine fueled nights with only a few hours of sleep, stressing over papers and writing articles and columns to my heart’s content.
It’s great to be back.
As the first week has ended and the second week has begun, it’s once again great to be a Falcon, to be expanding my horizons with an education and the experiences I will gain while attending this University. My views might change as the year goes on and I get swamped with assignments and work, but right now, I’m glad to be back.
While the first week of school is now over and we’re getting settled into class and our homes for the semester, this year is already promising. The connections being established and gained are amazing— I’ve been given wonderful gifts I now hold in my hands, ready to be used.
Right now it’s the time to establish your abilities in your field, for those who have just started here at the University. For those in the middle of their education, start making sure you have the abilities you need in your field. And for those who are about to go on to the next stage of life— make the next semester or two your best.
With that being said, I know my own expectations for this year are to top what was accomplished last year, but I will not forget what got me as far as I’ve gone thus far. The sleepless nights along with the willingness to push myself to my limits, both mentally and physically, have shown me I’m more than I thought I could be. I’ve got a surely what is a bright future ahead of me, and I can’t wait for it to happen.
