University President Mary Ellen Mazey addressed concerns about a possible raise in graduate student tuition at the second Graduate Student Senate general meeting Friday afternoon.
The administration is looking into ways to generate more revenue from graduate programs to help lower the high cost of undergraduate tuition, Mazey said.
“We have no choice but to do so because our undergraduates cannot be funding our graduate student population,” she said.
Mazey said there will likely be more fee-based graduate programs in the future, but she would not comment on whether current non-fee-based graduate programs will become fee-based.
The next GSS meeting will be hosted Oct. 4 in the McFall Gallery from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
