Second suspect charged with kidnapping, robbery in Bowling Green

The Bowling Green Police Division has issued a warrant for the second of three suspects in the kidnapping of a Toledo student Aug. 19.

Police identified Hui Zang, 23, of Toledo, as being involved with the kidnapping and robbery of the student, according to a press release from the police division.

Zang, along with two other suspects, contacted the victim promising to take him to Cedar Point. Instead, they took him to an abandoned house in Bowling Green where they robbed him at knife point and used his debit card at various locations. The kidnappers then took him to an Econo Lodge in Holland, Ohio, where they tried and failed to secure ransom from his family. They then released the victim in Toledo.

The victim identified Zang as being involved and it was later confirmed she was involved in the online chatroom conversation, according to the press release.

Police were communicating with Zang’s attorney to turn herself in, said Maj. Tony Hetrick, deputy chief of police. When she failed to turn herself in, police issued the warrant and were sent to find her in Toledo, Hetrick said.

This past week, the first suspect, Brittany Long, turned herself in and was charged with kidnapping and robbery.

Zang will receive the same charges, Hetrick said.

The final two suspects involved have been identified and charges are currently pending, he said.
