The BG Men’s basketball team split their two games this weekend in their visit in Cancun, Mexico.
They won their first game of the trip 67-45 against Presbyterian College. The Falcons were led by guard Anthony Henderson who scored 17 points on 7 of 11 shooting. Cameron Black and Spencer Parker were close behind with 12 points apiece.
The Falcons held the Blue Hose to only three field goals over the final eight minutes of the opening half as they cruised to a 33-19 lead going into halftime.
Coming out of the half the Blue Hose scored five straight points to cut the lead to 33-24. Out of an early timeout the Falcons scored four straight points, the teams continued to trade baskets as the game went on and the Falcons finished with the win 67-45.
Their second game in Mexico did not go as well as the Falcons would have wanted. Tournament MVP Shawn Glover of Oral Roberts scored 27 points in their 63-56 win over the Falcons Wednesday afternoon.
The Falcons had a 10 point lead in the second half but the golden eagles answered with a 15-5 run over a six minute span to even the score.
At the end of half the Golden Eagles capitalized at the free throw line going 6 for 7 as the Falcons could not going 1 for 5 from the free throw line.
The Falcons will be back in action Monday night at 7:30 p.m. as they host the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
