March 31 was the deadline to sign up for legislation that will doom this nation.
In fact, those who signed up are, in my opinion, treasonous. Yes, the deadline to sign up for the Affordable Care Act was on Monday and I for one am waiting for the apocalypse.
I am not some kind of crazy who believes in zombies, wears a tinfoil hat, or listens to Glenn Beck.
I also am not being entirely truthful though; the whole first paragraph was total nonsense.
Over 6 million Americans now have health insurance or better insurance that they previously did not.
This is momentous. This is historic as the third major step toward socialized medicine, after Medicare and Medicaid.
I am ecstatic, as all Americans should be.
The Supreme Court has ruled a law passed by both Congress, signed by the President.
Despite these facts, the Republicans are completely freaking out about this reality.
Faced with the fact, the conservatives do what they always do: smear, obfuscate and whine.
This is classic Republican politics since the rise of Newt Gingrich in 1994.
If they do not get their way all of the time, they lie, lie and if that does not work, lie some more.
The Republican Party has always been and will always be the party of big business.
They and the private health insurance industry are perfect bed mates; one makes money off sick people and the other collects campaign contributions from those who profit off sick people.
The US is the only developed nation in the world without socialized medicine.
On top of this fact is that many lesser-developed nations in the world also have cradle-to-grave health care.
This is our largest national disgrace.
Obamacare was and is a giant step toward rectifying this travesty.
So who is against this great law? Only those who profit of sickness and death.
The health insurance industry directly profits from it and the Republicans profit by proxy.
Anyone can see that more people insured and living better is a benefit not just to the U.S. but for humanity.
One has to seriously question those against access to healthcare.
Are they wanting people to die? Are they wanting our citizens to suffer?
Are they so selfish that they truly could care less if they have healthcare while others don’t?
The answer to all three questions is yes.
The Republican-controlled House of Representatives has now voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act 50 times.
50 times they have wasted taxpayer’s dollars to engage in this sick piece of political sideshow theater.
They do this knowing Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy will appear before their vote means a thing.
But what if their vote was somehow successful? How do you repeal a law once it has been implemented and one in 50 Americans has signed up for it?
The answer is you cannot. They know this and any American with any intellect at all can see through this.
The fact that there is still is a significant population among us that cannot look past these blatant lies is beyond troublesome.
It also makes me worry about this nation’s long-term viability as a serious player on the world stage.
It is time to reject lies and embrace truth.
All we have to do is pay attention.
