The BG women’s basketball team defeated Central Michigan 67-55 Wednesday night in a matchup between the conference’s top offense and defense.
The Falcons advanced to 22-3 overall and 12-1 in the Mid-American Conference with the win in the chippy conference battle.
Central Michigan handed BG their only conference loss earlier this season, but the Falcons got revenge, handing the Chippewas their first conference loss. CMU fell to 16-9 overall and 12-1 in conference play.
Senior Jillian Halfhill led the Falcons with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Classmate Jill Stein clenched a double-double on the night with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Fifth-year senior Alexis Rogers, who picked up a technical foul at the 10:05 mark of the second half, rounded out the Falcons’ double-digit scorers with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Though Central Michigan is ranked at the top of the conference in scoring offense, the Falcons finished with an overall better field goal percentage. BG went 24-of-54 on the night for 44.4 percent. The Chippewas finished 21-of-66 from the field for just 31.8 percent.
The Falcons will return to action as they hit the road this weekend. BG will travel to Buffalo on Saturday, Feb. 22 with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
