Shooting near Casa Fiesta under investigation

Shots were heard at about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday near Casa Fiesta, on 1544 E. Wooster St.

Several shell casings were found at the scene, but there was no victim, according to a Bowling Green Police Press release.

The police received a call from a Toledo hospital with information that a 25-year-old male had come in with a bullet lodged in his buttocks.

Bowling Green Police detectives and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are currently investigating the shooting.

UPDATE: November 10, 12:30 p.m.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Darryl Merriweather, a man from Toledo.

He had been at a party at Casa Fiesta and walked by a fight as he was walking through the parking lot, said Bowling Green Police Chief Brad Conner.

Merriweather said he had been hit by a stray bullet when someone had opened fire.

He was struck in the front of his body, but the bullet was lodged in his buttocks.

Police are still searching for the shooter.
