Coming off of a nearly month-long break, the BG swimming team took to the road on Saturday to face off in the Tampa Relays.
After competing in the AT&T Winter National Championships in early December, the Falcons placed second amidst two nationally ranked teams.
The six participating schools swam in 10 different relays, which BG took two first place finishes in as well as second place finishes three times.
Finishing first in the 400 medley relay and the 400 individual medley relay, the Falcons also grabbed second in the IM relay.
Coming in at 4:03.34, the first relay team was made up by Maya Skorupski, Carmen Young, Joelle Scheps and Kayla Effinger.
The 400 IM first place finishers included Victoria Griffin, Nicole Hranchook, Stephanie Boyle and Jordan Bullock.
Young, Petra Laudova, Jessica Carpenter and Hannah Albion took the second place spot coming in with a time of 4:22.65, more than five seconds after the winning team.
Adding to the second place finishes, the Falcons made their mark on the 3×100 butterfly relay and the 8×50 freestyle relay.
Effinger and Scheps were both on that 3×100 butterfly relay team, while Effinger also took part in the 8×50 freestyle relay.
At the end of competition, Dartmouth, carrying a Number 34 ranking in the country, won the contest with 534 points. Bowling Green came in next with 398, just edging Number 13 Division II ranked Tampa who had 390 points.
The Falcons will now have just less than two weeks off until their next dual meet coming up Jan. 17. Bowling Green will take on Michigan State in Lansing. The team has seen the Spartans earlier this season during the AT&T Winter National Championships and at the Northwestern Invitational.
Coming up after that meet, the Falcons will travel up I-75 to take on rival Toledo on Jan. 24.
