A water pipe burst in West Hall, causing water to flow into the television studio on the first floor and a classroom in the basement.
“We’re assessing [the damage] right now,” said Jose Cardenas, a lecturer in Telecommunications.
A telecommunications class and BG24 News use the studio, where Cardenas said water got on the camera switcher, audio board and some cameras.
Cardenas and Jim Barnes, a technical support coordinator in the School of Media and Communication, were taking the equipment apart to see what was damaged.
The water, which came down from the ceiling tiles above, has stopped coming and heaters were placed in the rooms to dry them, Cardenas said.
The next step after assessing the damage is to report to the school’s director, Cardenas said.
