The Bowling Green State University cheerleading team defeated eight-time defending national champion Hofstra to win the Small Co-ed National Championship Saturday at the College Cheer and Dance National championships.
”We were motivated to win this year after finishing just .7 points behind Hofstra last season,” BG Cheer Coach Anne Marie King said. “We have worked hard over the past five years to consistently be a top five cheer program.”
The all-girl cheer and dance team were also national finalists. The all-girl team placed ninth out of 16 teams in the semifinals of the All-Girl D1A Division in their first national competition.
“We are so proud of our cheerleading squad,” Athletic Director Chris Kingston said. “We are very fortunate to have such talented student-athletes supporting BGSU Athletics.”
