  • My Fiction Icks
By Jay Grummel When you read as much as I do you start to notice common things in fiction that make you annoyed, upset  or even want to put down the book completely. I have a bad habit of not giving books much of a chance when they use some of these personal ‘icks’. However, […]
  • Poetry for Fall
By Jay Grummel Poetry has a way of connecting us to the external and internal world. In poetry it is easier to feel a season and truly feel a piece due to this. Poetry has a subtle way of making the readers immersed into the world of the poem. With the air getting colder and […]

$8,765 raised at at St. Baldrick’s Foundation Annual Shave-a-Thon

National Residence Hall Honorary at BGSU, worked to raise money for childhood cancer research through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.  On Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022, the Bowling Green community shaved their heads, cut their ponytails, donated, volunteered, and enjoyed themselves at the event. The Shave-a-Thon was hosted in the multipurpose room of the Bowen Thompson Student Union at BGSU and on Instagram live.

“Our goal was to raise a total of $8,000 and we raised $8,765,” said Anna Gregory, director of the BGSU St. Baldrick’s committee. The event was a success with 18 heads being shaved and 21 ponytails being donated. The BGSU and St. Baldricks Foundations would like to thank Ambrosia Salon & Spa and our sponsors for helping make the event a success. You can still donate by heading to website below.

About St. Baldrick’s Foundation

Every 2 minutes, a child somewhere in the world is diagnosed with cancer. In the U.S., 1 in 5 will not survive. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants, is on a mission to give kids a lifetime by supporting the most promising research to find cures and better treatments for all childhood cancers. When you give to St. Baldrick’s, you don’t just give to one hospital – you support virtually every institution with the expertise to treat kids with cancer across the U.S. St. Baldrick’s ensures that children fighting cancer now — and those diagnosed in the future — will have access to the most cutting-edge treatment, by supporting every stage of research, from new ideas in the lab to the development of new therapies, to lifesaving clinical trials. Join us at StBaldricks.org and help #GiveKidsALifetime.
