Falcon Cross Country shows promise at Bobcat Invite

BGSU’s Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country teams opened up their season in Athens at the Bobcat Invite on Friday.  

The men’s 5k featured five different schools. Bowling Green finished in fourth with 75 points. As for individual performances, AJ Haffa recorded a personal best mark while finishing fifth overall. Sophomore Charlie Nowinski finished 12th overall, marking a new career high finish, while Bryce Weber finished 16th overall in his first race as a Falcon. Toledo finished first overall after defeating Kent State in a tiebreaker. 

The women’s 5k featured 80 athletes from six schools. The Falcons placed fifth with 128 points. Katerina Shuble finished first for Bowling Green and second overall with a time of 18:13.60. Freshman Kylee Cubbison finished eighth overall with a time of 18:40.95. Ohio finished first in the 5k. 

The Falcons will compete in their first home meet of the season on Friday, Sept. 16, at the Bowling Green Cross Country Course. The women’s 6k will be at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s 8k at 6:05 p.m.
