Former University men’s head basketball coach Chris Jans was fired last week following an internal investigation into his “public conduct.”

After the Falcons season-ending loss, Jans and members of the coaching staff went to a local Bowling Green bar. There a witness accused Jans of “making advances towards several women.”

He issued a statement about his firing and apologized to the Bowling Green community this afternoon.

“I plan to use the future months and years to improve myself as an individual and to show them that their faith in me as a coach, and a person, was not unwarranted,” Jans said in the statement. 

Jans finished his first season with a record of 21-12 and won the program’s first postseason game in 40 years
