Falcon Golf teams have first invites of the year

The Bowling Green men’s and women’s golf teams competed for the first time this year.

The men’s team began on Monday in California at the Barona Creek Golf Club with a carded round of 286, -2 under par. The Falcons carded a 309, +21 over par, during the second round.

They finished the first day, along with just two other teams due to darkness, with a combined score of 595, +19 over par.

Jose Narro scored the best individual round score with a 69 [-3 under par] in the first round, but Brett Rinker carded the best complete score with a 146 [+2 over par] for the first day.

BG got back under par on Tuesday for the third and final round with another score of 286.

The Falcons finished with a 54-hole combined score of 881 [+17 over par] placing them 11th out of 13 teams.

The women’s team began on Monday as well in Florida at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.

The team defeated Akron 3-2 in the first round before rain and lightning forced the second and third rounds to be played on Tuesday. Hannah Lewis, Patricia Holt and Shelby Wilson posted team wins for the Falcons while Lily Bartell competed alone, picking up another win.

Fran Rodriguez and Mikayla Baer were both defeated by Akron’s Sierra Everson and Laura Murray, respectively.
