Student governing bodies vote against Chick-fil-A

Graduate Student Senate:

The Graduate Student Senate met Friday to determine whether it would support Chick-fil-A as a possible option on a student survey as a future food option in the Falcon’s Nest. GSS also voted on whether it agreed with the Dining Advisory Board’s decision to remove Chick-fil-A from the survey and if GSS would support Chick-fil-A as an option, if it did open on campus next fall. The voting results are as follows:

“Should Chick-fil-A be included in the survey to the BGSU student body?”

41 senators voted “no”

6 senators voted “yes”

No senators abstained

“If Chick-fil-A is included in the survey and is the top choice of the BGSU student body, will GSS support a decision to select them?”

38 senators voted “no”

5 senators voted “yes”

4 abstained

“Do we agree with the Dining Services Advisory Board’s decision to remove Chick-fil-A from any consideration as a vendor at BGSU?”

39 senators voted “yes”

4 voted “no”

3 senators abstained

Undergraduate Student Government:

The Undergraduate Student Government also met to discuss Chick-fil-A on Monday. Senators voted to keep Chick-fil-A off of a student survey and to not support the restaurant, if it were to make it on the survey and eventually into a location in the Falcon’s Nest. At the meeting, Ben Goldsberry, USG speaker of the senate, announced the following voting results:

Should Chick-fil-A be removed from a survey as an option for the Falcon’s Nest?

29 senators voted “yes”

6 senators voted “no”

No senators abstained

USG will not support Chick-fil-A if it is presented on a survey as an option or if it is chosen to open in the Falcon’s Nest, next fall.

All 35 senators voted “yes” to approve the motion
