Join BG Falcon Media for Fall 2023

All students are welcome to join any and all of the BG Falcon Media brands. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to engage with our campus community. To learn more, drop an email to Falcon Media Manager Karl Smith.

We are now accepting applications for paid executive staff positions for the 2023-24 academic year, a paid summer internship, a paid summer design position, and specific volunteer and intern opportunities for Fall 2023. Please follow the application instructions for each position.

 

EXECUTIVE STAFF (all run the full academic year beginning in August)

Executive Content Director: The Executive Content Director serves as Falcon Media’s student leader, ensuring content production aligns with organizational objectives and fulfills the needs of the website, The BG News, WBGU-FM, Falcon Radio, Falcon Media social channels, BG24, and other Falcon Media products. BG News Editor-in-Chief: The BG News Editor In Chief is the chief student manager for editorial content appearing in The BG News. This position directs and selects staff and is responsible for content and operational decisions. BG News Managing Editor: The BG News Managing Editor works with the BG News Editor In Chief (EIC) to manage editorial content appearing in The BG News as well as supporting content editing for BGFalconMedia.com. This position assists in all content and operational decisions. Falcon Radio Operations Manager: This position oversees all Falcon Radio operations and serves as the primary link between radio station volunteer staff, the station’s faculty adviser, and the rest of Falcon Media. OTHER PAID STAFF POSITIONS

Summer content intern (May to July): This part-time (20 hours per week) internship runs from the first week in May to the end of July (student must be available for that entire timespan) and will be a hybrid position, meaning some work will be done remotely but most of it will require on-campus work. Summer graphic designer (May to August): Design, layout and prepare for vendors publications and marketing materials for BG Falcon Media and its business units. This is an on-site position (not remote, not hybrid) and candidates must be available for up to 20 hours per week. Lead delivery driver, supervisor (Full academic year): This person delivers the BG News each week during the academic year (12 editions per semester) as well as speciality publications as needed (typically three or for per academic year). They also coordinate other drivers and vendor deliveries. Must have a reliable vehicle and be available early mornings (deliveries typically happen between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m.). Digital Manager (Full academic year): The Digital Manager leads all aspects of the BG Falcon Media website and other digital properties, ensuring websites operate at optimum efficiency with a seamless flow of content. Senior graphic designer (Full academic year): This person will design, layout and prepare for vendors publications and marketing materials for BG Falcon Media and its business units. They will also collaborate with the Editor to plan the weekly BG News and make layout assignments, communicate with vendors from estimates through production, contribute to process improvement, and contribute to brand building. Photographer/videographer (Full academic year): This person will photograph, videotape and create digital assets for publications and marketing materials for BG Falcon Media and its business units including directing subjects during photoshoots, encourage individuals to take candid photos, or capture opportunities that tell a story with images.
