  • They Both Die at the End – General Review
Summer break is the perfect opportunity to get back into reading. Adam Silvera’s (2017) novel, They Both Die at the End, can serve as a stepping stone into the realm of reading. The pace is fast, action-packed, and develops loveable characters. Also, Silvera switches point of view each chapter where narration mainly focuses on the protagonists, […]
  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Annual playtime for kids with WBGU-PBS

Looking for some wholesome, family entertainment this weekend? WBGU has got you covered! For the fifth year in a row, they are sponsoring the WBGU Kids’ Extravaganza. The event is taking place this Saturday, June 3.

The Extravaganza runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is open to the public. At 9 a.m., there will be an exclusive breakfast for children who are members of the PBS Kids Club.

Some popular PBS characters will be making an appearance. Clifford the big red dog, Jay Jay the jet plane, and Maya and Miguel will all be in attendance. What little kid wouldn’t want to meet Clifford? He has been a favorite with kids in the past. Additionally, there will also be games, crafts, face painting, inflatables, a DJ, and lots of food.

Studio tours will be offered, and both children and parents will have a chance to be recorded for television reading testimonials as to why they love PBS.

This year, there will be a lot more involvement from the community. The fire department will have a truck there so kids can learn about fire safety, the Wood County library is helping with crafts, and the police department will also be represented. Both middle school and high school students are will be present, working as volunteers.

The event will be held at WBGU-PBS, Tucker Center for Telecommunications at Bowling Green State University, 245 Troup Avenue in Bowling Green, OH. PBS Kids’ Club members can enjoy the Extravaganza free of charge, and there is a nominal cost for non-members.
