The University Board of Trustees unaminously approved an undergraduate tuition increase for the 2010 spring semester today.
Undergraduate students will see an increase of 3.5 percent added to their tution. Tuition for graduate students will remain the same throughout the academic year.
Any undergraduate student who is taking between 12-18 credit hours next semester’ will have to pay’ an extra $159 dollars in tuition compared to this fall. Students at the Firelands campus will also have to pay an extra $78 over the same time period.
President Carol Cartwright’ said the increase was ‘necessary’ to not only lessen the burden of debt on the University, but to maintain educational opportunities for students.
It is still undecided if tuition will increase for the 2010 fall semester. According to Cheif Financial Officer Sherideen Stoll, factors such as state funding and enrollment will be factors in the decision.
