After a summer long search, the University has finally announced its next provost.
Dr. Kenneth W. Borland Jr. was awarded the position on Thursday when a consensus was reached between several campus entities including upper administration, college deans and several faculty members.
Formerly the provost at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania, Borland will primarily be responsible for overseeing all academic programs, enrollment and research at the University’ effecitve Aug. 15, 2009.
Borland will be the fifth provost at the University in two years. Previously, Mark Gromko, and then Rodney Rogers, had filled in an interim role over the past seven months. Borland will be the first provost on a non-interim basis since December 2008 when Shirley Baugher last filled the position (Baugher resigned in December 2008).
