‘Welcome to our little piece of the Tuscan countryside.’ This is the slogan for the newly located DiBenedetto’s Italian Bistro.
DiBenedetto’s moved from its previous location on East Wooster St to 121 South Main St. in downtown Bowling Green.
‘We’ve been a sub shop for 30 years, my parents opened the sub shop in 1978, then formed a restaurant,’ said Chris DiBenedetto, the owner. ‘My parents wanted to retire so I controlled both places, now just the one restaurant.’
DiBenedetto’s Italian Bistro offers not just subs but a lot of other Italian foods. Their lunch hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., then they re-open at 4:30 for the evening hours. They also deliver, Mon.-Fri. 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
‘Hours at lunch are sort of limited, but basically the same menu [as the previous sub shop], but more expanded now,’ DiBenedetto said.
‘The help is always right there, don’t have to wait, and the owner is a good friend of my children,’ customer Tammy Premo said.
Sarah Champion, a waitress at DiBenedetto’s, agreed that this is a great place for people to come and eat the finest Italian food.
‘I like working here a lot, everyone’s nice, a lot of regulars ask me how school is going since I’m a student,’ Champion said. ‘Yeah, to eat and work here is awesome because Chris is super cool and I tell my friends to come for a date night.’
They have a lounge area upstairs for a late night spot for students to relax.
‘For students, more of a date night for them, we have a lounge and bar,’ DiBenedetto said. ‘People have compared us to Roselli’s in Findlay.’
‘They’ve been making the best subs for years,’ said customer Darlene Hoffman. ‘I recommend this place to anyone.’
