Funds from the state capital bill may be allocated to the University to fund renovations to the Ice Arena, water quality testing equipment and solar research.
Dave Kielmeyer, the senior director of communications, said the money is in the Ohio Senate’s version of the bill and the house needs to add the funds to their version of the bill.
The money was originally going to go to the Wood County Health Department, but Kielmeyer said as far as he knows, the health department decided not to proceed with the project.
If the money comes through, Kielmeyer said the University would receive $1.9 million: $1.5 million to renovate the Ice Arena, $200,000 for the water quality testing equipment and $200,000 for solar research and equipment.
But Kielmeyer said the final decision isn’t set in stone yet.
‘We won’t know for a few more weeks,’ he said.
