  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]

Men’s soccer blanked by Butler

%26%23160%3B

With all of the positives that have come out of the men’s soccer program this year, a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of the nationally ranked Butler Bulldogs was some thing that the Falcons were hoping to avoid.

Butler, the nations only remaining untied or unbeaten team, broke down a Falcon defense that has been strong in big games, holding top-ranked Akron goal-less for 68 minutes, and allowing only one goal in the team’s last 190 minutes played.

The Bulldogs did not waste their opportunities, scoring five goals on seven chances on net, leaving Falcon keeper Miguel Rosales with no chance to keep his team in the game on a rainy afternoon.

Butler got off to a quick start scoring in the 17th, 20th and 26th minutes before capping of the shutout with two goals in the second half.

With the win, Butler remains undefeated (11-0-0), while the Falcons fall to 4-5-3 on the season, with an important game for them on Saturday against conference rivals Hartwick College.

The Falcons, who are 1-2 in conference play, must beat Hartwick and Florida Atlantic University in their remaining conference games in order to make it to the Mid-American Conference. tournament in November.

The match versus Hartwick, which will take place Saturday in Oneonta, N.Y. is pivotal for both teams chances for MAC tournament success. The Falcons will have to defend against the Hawks Steven Amaya and Dan Summers, who have combined to score seven of the team’s 10 goals thus far this season.
