The Falcon women’s basketball team fell to the Kent State Golden Flashes by a score of 81-57 on Wednesday night. The Falcons now sit at 10-11 on the year and 2-8 in MAC play.
The Falcons dug themselves in a big hole early by going down 29-11 after the first quarter and could not make their way back.
“The second game where we come out with less intensity than our opponent and get down early and we spent the rest of the game crawling back,” Falcons head coach Jennifer Roos said. “For second, third, and fourth quarters, we only lose by a couple points but, we can’t overcome that first quarter so we have got to address what the intensity problem is with us in the first quarter over the past two game and we have got to make some adjustments but the big difference, we beat Kent at the Stroh Center, and this was a game obviously where they were going to not be denied and take it to us early on and they wanted to win this game and by their intensity in the first quarter compared to ours was the difference and got in early foul trouble and could not dig ourselves out of a whole that was way too deep.”
The Falcons were lead in this one by junior guard Sydney Lambert who scored 16 points as well as fellow guard, freshman Kennedy Williams who scored 10 points.
The Falcons next game is Saturday at home against the Miami RedHawks, in which the team will honor past alumni.
“Alumni day is always special because every alum that has come through this program has graduated has special memories and understand what the culture is about,” Roos said. “They have extreme about of pride and thats neat to see. We have had a lot of alums come back and speak to this team in particular this year and that has been a lot of fun for them, not only to speak to them, but for the kids to hear those stories but at the end of the day we have a short two day prep to get ready for a team that has won four out of their last five and playing really well has a top 20 scorer in the nation and we have got to be able to match their intensity throughout the four quarters.”
