This Saturday, the Bowling Green track team will travel to Akron to compete in the All-Ohio Championships.
There will be many different schools competing in this event, which will give the Falcons a stance on where they fit into the picture on the track circuit.
BG head coach Scott Sehmann believes that this is an important time for the Falcons.
“This is our last big tune-up prior to MAC,” he said. “And the meet provides a setting with 10 to 14 teams competing thus we should see where we fit in a meet in which large numbers are entered in the competition.”
This weekend is a big opportunity for key athletes to make a name for themselves and prepare for the MAC Championship events.
Melissa Krueger and Kerri McClung are hoping to make impacts. Krueger and McClung have been the glue this season that keeps this team together and focused.
“Each athlete who is making the trip has an opportunity to make a contribution on the scoreboard this weekend and I look forward to seeing each of our team members go out and compete at their highest level, “Sehmann said.
Expectations are high for the Falcons and this weekend is a perfect time to perform well.
Second place only gets old after a while, and it’s time that the Falcons can make it over the hump.
“If our kids compete as they’re capable we should leave Akron very satisfied with the outcome,” Sehmann said.
The Falcons will be off to compete in their final tune up before the MAC Indoor Championships in three weeks.
The men’s and women’s long jump will lead things off at 12:30 p.m. The first running event is the men’s and women’s 5,000 meters at 1:20 p.m.
